Track Name: Elevation Is the Key to Flight
elevation is the key to flight
you won't fly nowhere
without much height
so go ahead
climb as high as you can
and don't look down
just grab the wind
with your hands
Track Name: Everybody Has to Die
wind, rain, smell of grain
run about these open plains
weeds, grass, run to class
down the hill through Miner's Pass
trip, fall, loudly call
broken leg, you start to bawl
hear, look, throw your books
you just bit the grizzly's hook

dark, light, dead of night
shadows in the bright moonlight
call, rip, crack the whip
forget it all and jump the ship
bear tracks, just relax
you've lived your life up to the max
eat, sleep, not a peep
keep your thoughts that run so deep
go, leave, never grieve
keep in mind you must believe
wait, try, never cry
everybody has to die
Track Name: My Friend George
let me tell you about
my friend named George
he has a dragon sword
it's not a practice sword
it's a real sword
razor-sharp edge and all

he says he's studied karate
and three types of swordfighting
but now he's in jail
'cause he brought the sword to school

let me tell you about
my friend named George
he said his lawyer
is gonna get him out
and let him do
community service

and whatever it takes he'll get out
'cause he has got to come back to church
it's part of what he thinks he has to do
to be a better person

I think they think
that he's insane
'cause he's going
to some doctors
by taxi
and he won't be back
Track Name: The Ladder of Trial and Error
collapse is a part
of nothing that can go away
but must be kept until completed
unless the load weighs low
and hundreds fail to fill it
its job a waste, a crime

to steal unwanted time
for sure is the sacrifice
of unimportant, unbargained-for success

unmatched in its revered way of haste
which sharpens the axe of superiority
progress is what drives
forces us beyond our will
to learn, to teach

to try and leave our faults behind
denial of our fears
takes us home to rest

with strength we pass the test
and move up
the ladder of trial and error
Track Name: Somewhat Something
despite the right to give
you fell and slipped and stood
reverse draws quickly forward
backward into the nothing

climbing diagonally upward
away from the entrance
of all that rests
of all the best

here goes everything
here goes nothing
here goes somewhat something
of a feeling

it flees to its own hiding place
you've overcome
in your hiding place
you're home
Track Name: The Same Difference
allow yourself some time to think
careful though, 'cause before you blink
life as you know it may end, that stinks
if only it was so easy, but it is

remember it all, confused and misled
drawing back, your faith is dead
you can't stop now or so you believe
the beating of red still staggering

drop to the top, rise to the bottom
it's all the same difference

release frustration, uncover it so
who cares about the past, it's all over
begin today, don't end tomorrow
though mistakes are assumed
failure is consumed

rise to the top, drop to the bottom
now you know which way to go
Track Name: The Time Ran Out
the time ran out tomorrow
when you wasted all your lies
no more places left to hide
you're scarce as plaid disguise

we faulted you, but you saw through
our frantic, forced attempts
to set you straight, alone we wait
to free you from contempt

you pushed, we shoved, you rose above
and left us here to stare
after that we tipped our hat
in it you through a snare

you locked us up, then let us out
when you had our last dime
your lies ran out tomorrow
when we wasted all our time
Track Name: Help Me
you say I don't care
there is nothing there
well life is more than fair
'cause nothing is everywhere

you're cryin'
help me
you're dyin'
help me

you say no matter what I do
there's still a lot of things to explain
and they won't just go away

you're cryin'
help me
you're dyin'
help me
Track Name: Drowning In the Deep
goodbye, how are you
I thought we were through
put down your weight and rest
you know that it's the best

that you could ever do
no matter feelings blue
you mustn't kill what's true

for time will prove results
and nothing goes untold
so hang up all the bore
your feelings become sore

and lose a night of sleep
you're drowning in the deep
lose a night of sleep
you're drowning in the deep
Track Name: The Day You Left
every day we laughed and we played
good were those times that we spent there
I never would have thought
you would go away so soon
time is no longer to spare

but no, it was your time to go

someway, somehow
I want to see you again
I want then, not now
back to where it began
it seems that all that you knew
was everything but the truth
like the things I said
on the day that you left

day after day it's gradually okay
'cause I never think about it anymore
I wish you were here
it'd give me one more chance
to show you what our life was meant for

but no, it was your time to go

someway, somehow
I want to see you again
I want then, not now
back to where it began
it seems that all that you knew
was everything but the truth
like the things I said
on the day that you left

I wish you were here
come back
I wish you were here
where'd you go?
Track Name: Happy Makes You Sad
softly they have the flavor it gave
return to the norm what you chose to save
hold tight to the rail, your arms mustn't flail
over in the box, give up now you fail

happy makes you sad
just as lovely makes you mad
your moods are getting old
and you don't do what you're told

fall far and unglue, too late to be new
it's time to move on is anything but true
cast down your will, it's what you have still
freedom waits late, your mind must rebuild

eruption comes to mind
but it is not the time
to let your anger go
or let your true side show
'cause that way people know
the kinds of seeds you sow
Track Name: Too Late Is Now
high upon the hill
we fight for our cause
suspended as so because
we all forgot what that was

too late is now
for we ended our useless struggles
to save this soil from itself
and though we're eager to win
the games begin

and we tell ourselves
no, not now
it can't happen yet
we've wasted too much
too long have we said we won't

the loneliness streaks our bodies
while crazy thoughts
fill our frustrated minds
and the hesitation
relays that we're unsure
of what is to come
of all this work
depending on us
Track Name: Vultures
costly decisions
lead to costly consequences
worlds torn down, ripped apart
effaced from existence

blot it out, erase the pain
white-out takes it all away
destroying hope, ending chances
sorrow begins, it's playtime again

just run away
dodge the attacking vultures
you can go away
you don't have to be a soldier

acknowledge patience of predators
dreaming without minds
of what will soon become
a silver platter

don't try to fly, caring not to cry
forced to live a lie, corrupt you'll die
reaching far, you come up short
hands are sweating, but they shut the door

but you can run away
dodge the attacking vultures
just go away
you don't have to be a soldier

they are trapped, unable to help
you place a bet, but it favors extinction

obliterate thoughts
you can't let them out
'cause somehow you know
that you need them

block it out, cut it off
flip the switch and let it go
Track Name: The Time Has Come
the time has come to say goodbye
how I wish it were not true
and though we may not understand why
we both know that
it's the best thing for us to do

and we know someday
that our paths may cross once again
but our time has come to an end
Track Name: Smart Girl (bonus track)
every day I see a girl
waiting on a school bus
she carries a big book bag
and a lunchbox

I think she is smart
'cause she looks the part
yeah
